Defence InWest 2027 – The Next Step in Collaboration

Registration for Defence InWest 2027 is now open. The conference returns to Trollhättan on 3–5 February, continuing to develop as a long-term platform for collaboration where the needs of the defence sector meet industrial expertise and innovation. The aim is to create more partnerships and business opportunities for companies both within and beyond Western Sweden, while contributing to stronger defence capabilities in Sweden and across NATO.

When Defence InWest was first held in March 2026, it brought together 286 participants, 42 exhibitors and 35 speakers from the defence sector, industry, academia and the public sector. The conference highlighted opportunities to connect the needs of the defence sector with the expertise, technology and production capacity of Swedish industry.

Looking ahead to 2027, Defence InWest is continuing to develop into a long-term collaboration platform, with the ambition of creating value beyond the conference itself. By bringing together businesses, research institutions, municipalities and international stakeholders, the initiative aims to create opportunities for new connections, partnerships and business development – before, during and after the event.

–Through Defence InWest, we aim to create new business opportunities, partnerships and solutions that address the operational needs of the defence sector. Together with Business Sweden, we are working to welcome a Polish delegation of defence companies and high-level representatives to Trollhättan. The focus is on organisations looking for suppliers, manufacturing capacity, technology or development partners, as well as companies seeking to establish operations, invest or expand in Sweden. This creates opportunities for new international partnerships and business, says Robin Mashallah, Investment Advisor at Business Region Väst.

Three Days – From Insight to Action

Defence InWest 2027 is structured around three connected themes: Understand, Build and Deliver. Over three days, participants will move from exploring changes in the global security landscape and future defence needs to examining industrial capabilities, new partnerships and practical solutions.

Key focus areas include manufacturing capacity and security of supply, advanced and additive manufacturing, autonomous systems and operational innovation. Defence InWest offers participants opportunities to gain new perspectives, exchange knowledge and build valuable connections. In addition, targeted activities will enable selected stakeholders to deepen their collaboration and address specific challenges related to the needs of the defence sector.

Western Sweden’s Industrial Strengths in Focus

Western Sweden has a strong industrial base, with advanced manufacturing capabilities, specialised technical expertise and established research and testing environments. Defence InWest aims to connect these strengths with national defence needs, creating opportunities for innovation, investment and business growth.

For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the event offers an opportunity to explore new markets, gain a better understanding of defence industry requirements and identify potential partners. At the same time, the combined capabilities of Swedish industry can help strengthen the country’s security of supply and resilience.
