Fyrbodal Municipal Association Awarded the Electrification Prize 2025
Fyrbodal Municipal Association has, for several years, pursued a focused effort to strengthen subregional energy planning and accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy system in Västra Götaland. This work is now being recognized with Green Power Sweden’s Electrification Prize 2025.
– It feels fantastic that our work has received this recognition. No single actor can tackle the challenges of the energy transition alone. We are incredibly proud to be part of the collaboration that has been built across Västra Götaland, says Director General Anna Lärk Ståhlberg.
The award, presented on October 13 at the Green Power Sweden Summit 2025 – the industry organization’s annual conference – is given to actors who actively drive electrification in Sweden and contribute to strengthening the country’s competitiveness and energy security.
Collaboration that Drives the Energy Transition
The motivation for the award highlights that the association, by bringing municipalities together around a shared strategy for electrification and the energy transition, has demonstrated clear leadership, built strong collaboration, and contributed to both increased competitiveness and more secure energy supply.
– Fyrbodal Municipal Association shows how the transition can be built with long-term planning and collaboration. They have successfully brought together municipalities, businesses, and cross-sector actors to coordinate planning, develop shared knowledge, and set the direction for the region’s energy supply. This strengthens both local development and Sweden’s competitiveness, says Daniel Badman, CEO of Green Power Sweden.
Fyrbodal Municipal Association, representing 14 municipalities in Västra Götaland, has, together with other municipal associations in the region, Västra Götaland Region, Energikontor Väst, and the County Administrative Board, taken a leading role in the energy transition. Through coordinated planning, shared strategies, and active leadership, they promote a sustainable and robust energy supply, creating conditions for long-term local development and strengthened competitiveness for all of Sweden.
– For society, jointly creating conditions for rapid electrification is crucial for the continued competitiveness of Swedish industry. A large part of Sweden’s industry is located in Västra Götaland. Fyrbodal Municipal Association has taken on this challenge, and it is impressive to see the commitment and drive in our region, says Helena Lundberg Nilsson, Director of Regional Development, Västra Götaland Region.
